1. Product Overview

TB820V2 (3BSE013208R0001) is the official Module cluster fiber modem for ABB S800 distributed I/O system under 800xA DCS platform. It acts as a bridge between electrical Module and optical Module, solving the limitation that one electrical bus only supports up to 12 I/O modules. Two ST fiber ports enable long-distance transmission up to 20km, fully immune to strong electromagnetic interference from medium voltage inverters and excitation converters. A rotary selector switch sets cluster address 1~7, allowing up to 7 TB820V2 units cascaded on one fiber trunk for large-scale IO expansion. It provides isolated 24V power supply to local S800 I/O modules to eliminate signal cross-talk. Built-in hardware supervision monitors fiber loss, bus short, IO module loss and power under-voltage, with local LED status indicators and fault feedback to AC800M controller via reverse fiber. Widely used in thermal/hydro power plant excitation cabinets, metallurgical rolling mill multi-drive lines and water treatment distributed control systems. ABB discontinued new original production, refurbished surplus modems are standard maintenance spare parts.
